SYNTOCA

Hailing from the greater Northwest and centered in the musical hub of Portland, Oregon, Syntoca is the newest brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Riley Kennedy-Keys. Combining an eclectic background of elements from contemporary composition, Brazilian percussion and modern electronic music, the result is a musical voice to move the spirit as well as the body. 

 

From the classic sounds of acid squelch and chatterbox bass popularized by Aphex Twin and Squarepusher to the evocative calm reminiscent of Four Tet, Bicep or Daft Punk’s emotional passages of Discovery, Syntoca blends disparate elements of the electronic music world into a form recognizable and fresh. Transient samba grooves give subtle hints of physical world realism paired with found sounds glitched into Tipper-inspired soundscapes, blurring the lines between soft synth, physical instrument, traditional composition and sound design experimentation.
